L.A. Noire 2: 5 Reasons Rockstar Should Make It (And 5 Reasons To Avoid)
2. Why They Should: Rockstar Would Do The Game Justice
With Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar games has shown their players that sometimes a sequel - or a prequel in some cases- can be just as good as the original. This isn't always the case however, just look at Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. However, Rockstar Games has gained a modicum of trust from its player base that they will deliver a compelling narrative which rivals that of the best films and television.
With this in mind, Rockstar does have the trust and reputation to develop a game that honours the first with its tone, characters and world. Also, a sequel to L.A Noire could, to a certain degree, right some of the wrongs that L.A Noire's narrative had.
For example: L.A Noire's main overarching storyline doesn't really start until Cole is promoted to the Ad Vice desk. Of course, it wouldn't make sense for the Homicide and Traffic desks to be related to this story however Rockstar Games could make it work.
Whether it be a direct sequel somehow, or a spiritual successor in 1970s New York, Rockstar does have the capability to maintain L.A Noire's reputation without tarnishing its legacy.
