Madden 19: 9 Best Rookie And Veteran Players By Position
2. Tight End - Hayden Hurst (OVR 78) & Rob Gronkowski (OVR 99)
Not the fastest or the most nimble, Hurst has a solid base stat in Madden 19 which allows a solid target when on third and short. While no stat really leads to a wow factor, there is a solid 85 rating for catching, putting the mind at rest when throwing to him.
The tight end market is completely saturated and other than Gronk, who is in a league of his own in ratings, only a handful of other players have a higher catching stat than Hurst. He will be favoured more so as a pass catching tight end than a supplementary blocker, as only just into the 50s on both run and pass blocking.
There is no question that Gronk is the best tight end on the game but with a 96 rating in catching is also giving most wide receivers a run for their money. Pure strength and power make a mismatch against whoever lines up on the other side of the snap.
Gronk’s stats almost guarantees a short to medium completion when he is targeted as a 97 catch in traffic makes him almost unmissable. Deep routes are best left to the receivers as although speed and acceleration are in the modest mid 80s, it is the short game where Gronk really dominates.
