Madden 20: 8 Tips To Play Like A Boss

7. Be Kind To Yourself

Madden veterans will roll their eyes at this and wonder who let the newbies in, but there's zero point in banging one's head against the wall. If you're finding games too difficult and opposition defensive schemes too watertight, then drop the difficultly a notch or two.

Or, if that sounds like a cheap way out, switch to 'Arcade' mode before going headfirst into 'Simulation'. That opens things up and makes big, game-changing plays a more regular occurrence, and you'll get a better feel for the passing game by going easy on yourself. Want to hit 50+ yard touchdowns? Then arcade action is your friend.

In sim, players hit the deck fast when tackled, and stiff arms, hurdles and jukes when deploying a running game aren't as effective. After 10-15 games on Arcade in Pro difficulty, you'll be able to go up to All-Pro without much bother. That's when to try out sim, not before.

May the lord have mercy on any newcomer who does.
