Magic: The Gathering: 10 Most Powerful Artifacts In 2020 Standard

5. The Great Henge

The Great Henge does everything you would expect from a flashy overpowered green mythic rare.

It taps to adds two green mana and gains two life each turn; it also grants a +1+1 counter to any creature that comes into play on our side of the battlefield.

The real power of The Great Henge is in its last line of text, ‘draw a card’. Drawing cards is not something Green decks do, they find their card advantage in other forms, say by searching a particular creature and placing it on top of your deck or even playing lands from the top of your deck but just straight up card draw is very rare.

The Great Henge plays into the strengths of green costing less mana to cast based on the highest attack of all of your creatures which means we can play this nine cost artifact as early as turn five.

The Great Henge doesn’t just see play in Standard it sees a lot of play in Commander, effectively the swiss army knife of artifacts for the green mage.
