One of the things that the Mass Effect series managed to do extremely well was getting players absorbed into the universe created by BioWare. Key to this was in making the various aliens and creatures interesting, while still relatable. The Hanar are probably the most alien-looking (friendly) species that the Commander encounters. Intensely polite and fervently religious, the sophisticated Hanar are a mysterious presence on the Citadel, and tend to draw a sense of respect from almost everyone around them. Everyone that is, except Commander Shepard. In one of the most hilarious lines of dialogue from the entire series, Shepard calls one of the Hanar diplomats a "big, stupid jellyfish", in an attempt to extract information vital to the mission. Is that racist? That might be racist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwPOqSBK1Hk
