Mass Effect: 15 Easter Eggs, Secrets & References You Totally Missed

2. Advertising For The Dead/Alien Shakespeare

At the beginning of Mass Effect 2, due to the unfortunate occurrence of his/her ship being attacked and blown up before being thrown into space to asphyxiate, Commander Shepard is for a time, dead. Thankfully due to sci-fi (and Cerberus), he/she can be magically be brought back to life and go off on another adventure. Unfortunately most of the world thought Shepard was kaput. If you happen to pop by the Citadel and start checking out some of the tailor-made adverts for Shepard they'll start to reference the fact that they were gone, with hilarious results. A particularly good example is for an Asari Burial Robe company. If Shepard approaches, it will say "Shepard, you've recently been dead. Don't you deserve a fine silk burial robe?" Be sure to also look out for the Elcor Hamlet adverts too. In Mass Effect's lore, the Elcor are a race of large creatures who convey emotion to other species using descriptions of their intended intonation before speaking. As a result, they are perhaps the least suited race in the galaxy to become actors, particularly as they cannot convey emotion. An example of this is apparent in the advertising for the Elcor Hamlet play, where it will say "Insincere endorsement: You have not experienced Shakespeare until you've seen it performed by Elcor." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIfx32iAjzU
