Mass Effect 4: 10 Playable Races That Would Change Everything

7. Salarians

Mordin Solus is still known as one of the best characters in gaming history, not to mention his placement within the galaxy's fiction as the scientist who helped work on the Krogan-killing Genophage virus. It's his race of Salarians that immediately connote that big-headed, wide-eyed 'classic' alien look that's always necessary for all great science fiction, and as you discover through talking to both him and the others across your time in the trilogy they're a somewhat skittish race that rely on their exo-suits to get around. Easily the most technologically advanced across the galaxy, they have extremely well-developed mental capacities which means it's not just Mordin who talks like it's going out of fashion. Intricate crafting mechanics and a focus on gadgets and other deployable drones alongside baseline Biotic powers would be the way to go, and that's before you get into the political and moral maelstrom of grey moral choices that is constructing and living with the genophage itself.
