Mass Effect 5 Wishlist: 10 Major Risks Bioware MUST Take
3. New Races
For all the complaints about Mass Effect Andromeda, this was probably the most egregious oversight.
The big appeal for the game was that it was a fresh start, with a new galaxy to explore, but Mass Effect just didn’t take advantage.
Despite the huge range of species in the original trilogy, Andromeda served up just one new species in the Angara. Yes, they were different in both design and personality to anything we’d seen previously, but just one is far too paltry.
Even the uninspired enemies were just evil versions of the Angara, or killer robots that weren’t too far removed from mini Reapers.
Whatever Mass Effect does with the fifth game, you have to think that introducing new blood is on the priority list. Certainly there’s more to learn about the existing species, but for truly new discoveries, we probably need more Angara style introductions.
Timeline and location plays a big part in how easy that will be, but again, if planned from the start, this feature wouldn’t cause too much of an issue.
