Mass Effect: 8 Ways Developers Could Produce A New Entry Worthy Of The Fanbase
1. A Clean Slate And A New Adventure
Creating a true successor to the Mass Effect trilogy could be the saving grace that Bioware needs to get them out of the rut that they’re currently in. With Anthem underperforming and rumours that the next Dragon Age will be an online, games-as-a-service model, Mass Effect still has the potential to save them from drowning. That being said, a repeat of Andromeda’s failures would surely be the final nail in the coffin for the franchise and maybe even Bioware as a whole.
This is a final chance at redemption, and to prove that the Bioware we all know and love hasn’t completely succumbed to the dark side. It should be used as a clean slate, on which to write a Mass Effect story that fans can get behind. Andromeda can be forgiven if its issues are taken on board and addressed properly for the next instalment.
This project shouldn’t be rushed, nor should it be thrown together by a team with little interest or investment in the previous games. Please Bioware, get some passionate, talented people together, take all the time you need and don’t come back until you’ve got a Mass Effect game that the Normandy crew would be proud of.
