9. Humanity Are The 'Bad Guys'

The quote from the leaked survey is as follows: "Mass Effect Andromeda takes players to the Andromeda galaxy, far beyond the Milky Way, where players will lead the fight for a new home in hostile territory where WE are the aliens." This corroborates information we learned earlier in 2016, in regards to the new character being labelled The Pathfinder; casting you as a protagonist that was searching for a place humanity could call home, after the events of the original trilogy. It's a pretty neat twist on everything that's gone before, as a huge part of Mass Effect's appeal is seeing all of humanity - regardless of colour or creed - find a place in the galaxy amongst the other established races. In the first three games, the Shepard we played was one of the first humans to ever be considered for SPECTRE status (the galaxy's top-ranking law enforcement), but we've never seen things like humanity's first meeting with aliens - the literary First Contact War, for example - depicted in-game, or what it was like during those tetchy first negotiations where we were the unknown foreign body, attempting to make contact.
