Mass Effect Andromeda: 9 Burning Questions It Must Answer
7. Are Bioware Just Repeating Themselves?
Not to get too negative, but once you start cataloguing a number of elements for this 'all new' Mass Effect, the more comparisons you can make to what's gone before.
For example, a 'mystical, ancient race' named the Remnant? That reeks of either the Protheans or Reapers. A weapons-ready attacking force called the Khet that are rumoured to guard various temples and locations you'll be raiding? That immediately sounds like the Geth.
Framing your character-focussed narrative in a world where larger, quasi-spiritual forces are at work is nothing new, but if Bioware are leaning into replicating the framework of a new trilogy so exactly, how much of that is a signature trait, and how much will rub fans up the wrong way?
