6. Are There Dual Timelines At Work?

Perhaps a slight reach, but here's something that would make for a perfect opening sequence. For now, we've heard that the male or female characters you can play as are brother and sister, but another tidbit from PlayStation Meeting was that the shadowy figure seen during 2015's 'N7 Day' trailer, is their father.

That brings about two possibilities - did Papa Ryder stow away both his newly-born children for the journey, knowing they'd grow up in an entirely new galaxy, or was he behind the Andromeda Initiative in the first place?

It's entirely possible that the game could open during the climactic battle of Mass Effect 3, seeing the father figure secure final preparations on sending the shuttle away, before deciding to stay and help fight the Reapers.

He stays behind, and we literally jettison off across deep space to find... whatever lies beyond. The carnage and destruction of ME3's battle would contrast perfectly with the younger Ryders waking up in Andromeda, and I'd be willing to bet that's what the "Awakening out of cryo-sleep" scene is, seen below.
