Mass Effect Andromeda: 9 Burning Questions It Must Answer

5. Can It Succeed Where No Man's Sky Failed?

From its first announcement, Bioware made a big song n' dance about creating one of the largest galaxies seen in gaming so far. Such a thing came before No Man's Sky dropped and disappointed the masses, but thanks to Andromeda's lengthy dev-cycle, we're now seeing some comparisons regardless.

This mainly boils down to a heady crafting component (from 2015's leaked questionnaire) and the need to scan every last thing you come across. We can see on the newest footage that scanning has been given its own dedicated button (R2), implying it'll be a core part of your repertoire out of combat.

If other leaked details are to be believed (and they've been spot on so far), gameplay will largely consist of charting new planets, taking your crew further and further into the cosmos in search of rarer materials and items, all to feed back into base-building, suit and Mako customisation.

All these things take the minute-to-minute gameplay of No Man's Sky and build on it - let's just hope there's more to the exploration in ME: A than just scanning creatures and plants over and over again.
