Mass Effect Andromeda: Everything We Know So Far
The release date, your new Shepard, tying into the trilogy and much, much more.
It might have been a blink-and-you'll-miss-it showing at E3, but information surrounding Mass Effect: Andromeda is fast mounting up. First we hoovered up a load of details from a leaked questionnaire in 2015, then that November's 'N7 trailer' had fans zooming in and frame-by-frame'ing, just to see what lay inside.
Now at E3, we got an updated look at the game in motion, and that's prompted me to gather up every last piece of info so far, just to take stock of what's confirmed, what's rumoured, and what we're still yet to see.
Bioware look to be handling the development of Andromeda very carefully, taking their time, carefully communicating messages to gradually build hype, and ultimately, staying as far away from the ending of Mass Effect 3 as humanly possible. That's led to a game we're all incredibly excited for, but one that has most of its biggest features tucked away inside interview comments and chance tweets from developers.
So let's remedy that and get some concrete details out there, shall we?
10. You Are Now Commander Ryder
Spotted on a set of dogtags inside 2015's November 7th trailer, your new character's name is now confirmed as 'Ryder', after Sally Ride, the first female American in space.
This comes as the other side of the gender coin that was flipped for the original trilogy, seeing Commander Shepard be a fitting tribute to Alan Shepard, the first American male astronaut.
It's worth pointing out that you can still choose a gender/male character from the get-go, but as for the various marketing materials and 'face' of Mass Effect: Andromeda, it'll be Ryder front and centre.
