Mass Effect Legendary Edition - 12 Overlooked Changes Fans Will LOVE

5. You Can Actually Use A Sniper Rifle (And No More Weapon Restrictions)

I cannot tell you how freeing the idea of all four weapons being available to all classes feels in-game.

Yes, the original Mass Effect let you "equip" any weapon you liked, but each class specialised in only a couple, with the remainder being labelled as "Untrained".

The latter meant things like the sniper rifle turned Shepard into a stumbling drunk without specific powers stabilising their aim, leaving you to time shots with the reticule hovering on an enemy's head. Even firing machine guns or shotguns you weren't trained in would still miss at super close range.

Now, all those restrictions are lifted. You still get bonus damage or an accuracy buff depending on class specialisation, but using an entire repertoire as a situation unfolds is a brilliant change.

Also, enemies in Mass Effect 1 are now coded to recognise headshots and take more damage, and you can position your squad separately using left or right on the D-pad while aiming. It's a win-win.
