Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance: 10 Reasons It's Awesome

4. Skill-Based Combat

I wasn't all that taken with the combat in the Revengeance demo, and though not much has changed mechanically, it's how the game teaches it to you that's different; the full product feels more coherent and patient with how it details the different attacks, dodges and so on, and of course, the full game having various VR tutorials to hone your skills is certainly a big help. The game moves fast, and making Raiden move elegantly around his enemies takes sure skill; button bashing will not get you very far in this game. The key to victory is in achieving a balance between light and heavy attacks, such that you don't leave yourself open to the enemies. It's extremely satisfying once you get the hang of it, making combos out of various lifts, knockdowns and aerial assaults to completely decimate your enemies beyond repair.
