32. Snake Shaved Down His Gun Grip So He Could Also Hold A Knife

Snake gave his trusty firearm a unique modification; by narrowing the grip of his pistol, he is able to hold both a gun and a combat knife in one hand. This allows for a quick switch between long range and close quarters combat, while also leaving a free hand for opening doors and whatnot.
31. There Is A Cyborg Ninja In Every Game Except MGS3
This is something that's distinctly Japanese about the Metal Gear Solid series; nearly every game has an incarnation of a high-flying, katana-wielding cyborg ninja. You might think that a ninja with a sword is no match for a platoon of commandos with assault rifles, but the ninjas prove to be insanely deadly, and harbor a passion for showmanship. I mean, break-dancing with knives between your toes might not be practical, but I'll be damned if it doesn't look cool!
30. Naked Raiden (MGS2)

This is probably the best-known sequence in the Metal Gear series. In MGS2, Raiden is kidnapped, stripped, and tortured by Revolver Ocelot, and fortunately, he is freed by one of his buddies and escapes. Unfortunately, he is 100% naked. Yep. Players control a nude Raiden as he runs through the facility, with both hands covering his...gentleman's area. The sequence was so weird and hilarious that Hideo Kojima couldn't resist including another Naked Raiden in the form of Major Raikov in MGS3, set in 1964.
