So we know he's had to witness something of a 'girlfriend' (or whatever you want to call that fling with Paz in Peace Walker) get blown up right in front of his eyes, undergo a nine-year coma, rescue his best friend Kaz from behind enemy lines and eventually remove that piece of shrapnel that's sticking out his head. We essentially need to get from a character that's likeable and contemplative throughout the majority of Phantom Pain, into someone who believes launching all-out nuclear warfare is the best cause for all of mankind. It's one hell of a leap, and although The Boss' defection-death combo alongside having to rebuild a private army to give himself a sense of purpose would already be a stretch on anyone's mind, you have to wonder what giant "All hope is gone"-style plot device is really going to send him over the top?
