Off the back of introducing scarier enemies this, too, seems like the next logical addition.

The franchise has made a name for itself making players feeling isolated in the cold bleak openness of space. A setting that has made for some very iconic horror films and games in the past so it should function perfectly here.

We've already touched on the possibility of an enemy you can't kill and have to run or hide from so if you couple that with VR then you've got a winner.

So, in a similar vein to the recent rise of open-world survival-adventure games like The Forest and Subnautica, what if Samus were stranded without her weapons and tools or even her suit to help?

Suddenly stripping players of what they've spent the majority of the game accumulating and relying on would be the perfect twist on conventional Metroid gameplay mechanics.

It would also serve as the ultimate test forcing players to fend for themselves.
