After Liu Kang and his allies vanquish Titan Shang Tsung, the story wraps up so quickly, it was like the developers were desperate to hit a deadline. After Earthrealm triumphs, the credits roll four minutes later.

That's it. Four minutes.

Players would be less critical of this brief epilogue if it wasn't for the dangling loose ends. Geras said Liu Kang cannot live on Earth after reclaiming the power of the Hourglass, but in the final scene, there is no mention of this whatsoever. Also, Liu Kang doesn't seem to care that his Kitana died in the final battle.

On top of that, we don't see what happened to Sub-Zero, General Shao, Quan Chi or Shang Tsung. Although Liu Kang mentions the sorcerers are imprisoned, it's easy to miss this detail, since he mentions it so casually.

Although these questions should be answered in the future, it's strange how abrupt MK1's conclusion is.
