3. The Rise Of... Havik?

With Titan Shang destroyed, the realms are at peace once more. Of course, it's only a matter of time before another evil force emerges.

And in the post-credits scene, we get our first glimpse of the next looming threat. Because Mortal Kombat likes to recycle villains, fans were probably expecting Onaga, Blaze, or Shinnok to appear. Alternatively, this could've been the moment where General Shao took the mantle of Shao Kahn.

Instead, the next antagonist appears to be... Havik.

Being a cleric of chaos, there's no question the disfigured Seidan sits on the side of villainy. But since Havik has never been big bad material, it's odd how Netherrealm have set their sights on making the noseless mage a primary antagonist (especially since he played a tiny role in this instalment).

Having said that, it's still early days. The developers might knock it out of the park, transforming Havik into Mortal Kombat's next iconic villain. (After all, they turned forgettable characters like Li Mei and Reiko into awesome fighters in MK1).

Nevertheless, nobody was hedging their bets on Havik becoming a major adversary.
