20. Tanya

The once-treacherous Tanya has been revised in MK1, so she is now the sworn protector of Outworld's royal family. The Umgadi warrior now relies on a bendable cudgel that also doubles as a boomerang.

Not only can this unique weapon be swung or hurled like a projectile, it can be tossed overhead, making it a versatile anti-air move. Her club packs such a wallop, her rival tends to bounce on impact, making kombo chains a piece of cake to pull off. Speaking of which, many of her kombos hit fast and low, which are tough to block or counter.

With that said, her move-set is surprisingly limited. She's prone to attack while casting Seeking Guidance, since it needs to be used three times to cause damage. Divine Protection only works if it's performed while being struck, which is risky. She has some great attacks, but a lot of them require fiddling with the controls at superspeed to achieve.

Tanya is still worth a look, but it's wise to nail down her skill-set before challenging others.
