Mortal Kombat Movie: Every Character & Actor Confirmed So Far
1. "Cole & Emily Turner"
Played by: Lewis Tan & Matilda Kimber
Cole Turner is a widowed Philadelphia boxed who is struggling to keep his life together and cares more about his 12-year-old daughter Emily than anything else. A brand new character to the franchise, his supporting cast includes his sister-in-law Jess, who thinks he's a bad father and Sophia, Cole's mother-in-law who is Emily's primary guardian.
Cole was first revealed in a 2018 casting call where he's described as the lead character in the movie. And, if that casting call is to be believed, then we'll be seeing some very different versions of the characters we know. The same call described Sonya Blade as a prophecy-chasing writer who hooks Cole into the tournament. Other changes include Liu Kang being changed from a Chinese monk into a fire-throwing ninja, Jax only losing his hands, and Kung Lao being a mute warrior for some reason.
While it's suspected by some fans that Cole and Emily Turner are actually codenames for Johnny and Cassandra Cage, we don't know for sure who they are. However, we do have enough information to know the people playing them.
Emily will be played by the debuting Australian Matilda Kimber, who has been announced for an unnamed role in the movie despite only one call for a 12-year-old girl. Meanwhile, Lewis Tan, who recently appeared in Wu Assassins, Into The Badlands, and Deadpool 2, spoke about Mortal Kombat being his first movie leading role.
