First introduced in Mortal Kombat II, Mileena started as a palette-swap (same character model with different colours, done to give more characters while saving memory) of Kitana and her story heavily referenced.

When Shao Kahn conquered Edenia, he took their Queen Sindel as his wife and her daughter Kitana as his step-daughter. Raised to be loyal to Shao Kahn, Kitana soon began to question the morality of his obsession with conquest and began to fall further from his shadow.

Sensing this, Kahn called on Shang Tsung to create a daughter that was more his own. The sorcerer cloned Kitana, mixing in a little Tarkatan blood to give her the distinctive monstrous jaw full of razor-sharp teeth that she hides under her veil.

Knowing the details of her creation, Mileena feels a lesser version of Kitana and wants nothing more than to kill her and usurp her place, not just as princess of Edenia but the true daughter of Shao Kahn. Instead, she is tasked with watching over Kitana as a newly discovered twin sister.

Mileena will be played by Sisi Stringer in her film debut.
