4. Reiko
Reiko started his Mortal Kombat story as a General in the armies of Shinnok during his war against the Elder Gods; Reiko was previously a member of the Brotherhood of Shadow and rejoined Shinnok in his fight against the forces of Earthrealm during Mortal Kombat 4. Following Shinnok's defeat he took up the same rank in the armies of Shao Kahn; despite it meaning he had to protect Quan Chi whom he intensely despised. Starting development as a character model for Noob Saibot; Reiko's face is actually modeled on that of Ed Boon. His arcade endings in previous titles have caused a lot of confusion over the character; with many believing they implied that he and Shao Kahn were the same person. Reiko appears or is referenced three times in Mortal Kombat 2011; he is one of the characters that appears in Cyber Sub-Zero's HUD during the cutscene before his fight with Kabal and is yet another fighter that can be seen fighting in the background of The Pit stage. After the younger Sub-Zero is dragged away by Lin Kuei cyborgs; Shang Tsung announces that the next fight to take place will be between Reiko and the next entry on this list. Given Shao Kahn's implied death at the end of the 2011 game and the Elder Gods leaving his helmet behind; it would be a nice fake out moment in the story mode of MK X to have Reiko appear wearing that helmet and the heroes to assume that he is the returned fallen Emperor of Qutworld. It wouldn't be that much of a stretch as they already share a similar dress sense; and it has already been established in previous games that Reiko has a thing for sneaking into Kahn's throne room and trying his helmet on.
