Upping your passing game is only half of the equation. Sure, an arsenal of slick passes can slice open a defence now and then, but it's equally important to be able to beat your man off the dribble. As with defending, your dribbling ability lives and dies on your manipulation of the right analogue stick. Flicking it left and right results in a series of crossovers and hesitation moves, while moving it along the vertical axis allows your player to execute a behind-the-back or in-and-out move. More complex motions naturally result in more impressive manoeuvres. Once you've mastered the basics, try incorporating spin moves, step-backs, and jab-steps into your repertoire. Obviously, the higher a player's ball handling stats, the more effective and advanced these moves will be. It's no good attempting a slick spin move with Dwight Howard, or expecting to break a defender's ankles with the lightning-fast reflexes of Dirk Nowitzki.
