Pointing the analogue stick away from the basket when driving in will ensure that the ball is released from this outer hand, while pulling the stick back will forego a conventional layup entirely, and instead see your player perform a lobbed "floater" shot. Like dribbling moves, it's best to master these basic variations first before getting fancy - but once you feel comfortable, try bamboozling opponents with all manner of Euro-steps, spin moves, and step-back jumpers.
