NBA 2K17: 8 Most Frustrating Things In MyGM

7. Managing The Salary Cap

This one deserves special consideration, as it is so frustrating to manage and understand the workings of the salary cap.

For example, my salary cap is over 90, although my owner allows me to spend around 115, because it's Miami baby! So I want to acquire a free agent. Al Horford and Hassan Whiteside are both signed for around $25M, the seven role players take up around $15M, so I still have around $30M for one interesting free agent. Seems great, right?

However, when I try to sign either Russell Westbrook or Chris Paul, I can only offer them around $15M a season. It's obvious that they will not want to play for me for that kind of money. As the owner wanted me to sign an 87-rated star, there are only a few players I can sign. But I can't, because I can't offer them what they want.

I'm not particularly good with math and following the rules, but why is the game preventing me from signing a star, when I have enough cap space to acquire one? That's just unfair and stupid. So stupid.
