For those wondering; yes, 2K will still be catering to players using eighth-generation consoles, which will be good news to those on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

It marks the second year that this has happened, with NBA 2K21 being available for those consoles, as well as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game was ready to play on ninth-generation consoles on the new consoles' release date, 12 November. That, in itself, deserves extra credit, considering the next-gen version of the game was built from the ground up, rather than being a direct copy from the last-gen consoles.

Going back to when the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles released, the NBA 2K series would still be released on both seventh and eighth-generation consoles for five games, beginning with 2013's NBA 2K14, and culminating with NBA 2K19 in 2018. It's unknown as of this writing if this mantra will keep going until NBA 2K25, for example, but it's good news for this year, at least.

As we'll get into later, the different generations won't be exactly the same, but for now, it's a sign of good news for PS4 and Xbox One users.
