NBA 2K22: 10 Things We Already Know
4. Offence And Defence Mechanics Have Been Improved
The biggest - and so far, seemingly only - gameplay change comes in the way of improved offence and defence mechanics.
Initially revealed when Luka Doncic was unveiled as the game's main cover star, these changes will reportedly see the player given more control over how they control the ball, as well how well they counteract their opponents when they're in possession.
As far as the offence side is concerned, new signature moves and combinations will make it easier to break down dribbles, as a variety of techniques have now become more skill-based. For example, alley-oops will now become more difficult to execute if your player isn't as skilled in that department.
On the defence side, however, the shot contest and block system have been entirely overhauled, providing an array of new tools to obtain the ball for your team. Those elite skilled defensive players have never played a more critical role in the outcome of a game, as detailed in NBA 2K22's inaugural features update.
That update also stated that new gameplay changes will be revealed upon the gameplay trailer's debut "later in August". Expect this to drop over the next few days, as more news is expected the week of 30 August.
