Nintendo NX: 10 Awesome Reveals That Could Win The Console War
6. Major Third-Party Support
Nintendo have had a shaky relationship with third-party developers ever since the NES days, with devs complaining that their more gimmicky platforms are difficult to make games for.
This culminated in a mass exodus of third-party devs from the Wii U, pretty much cementing the console's depressing failure.
A number of devs have praised the NX's system architecture (including The Witcher's CD Projekt Red), which creates hope that the NX could see a renaissance in third-party titles for the company. Considering that this is one area where the PS4 and Xbox One effortlessly thrive, it desperately needs to get rectified here, even if Nintendo's in-house franchise power is undeniable.
How Likely Is It?: Very. A lot of this will depend on how powerful the NX ultimately is and whether or not it has technical parity with its competitors (which it probably does), but after the rough treatment of the Wii U, Nintendo would be leaving more money on the table by not making the NX as dev-friendly as possible. 8/10
