Nintendo NX: 8 Reasons It's Already Doomed

6. The Marketing Will Suck

Old habits die hard. In recent years, nearly every facet of Nintendo's marketing has been questionable.

Of course, there's the whole Wii U thing. Aside from the distinct lack of advertising leading up to the launch of the console, there's the question of the name itself. What is it implying? Is the gamepad just an upgrade for the Wii? Many casual consumers forever found themselves confused simply by the name, 'Wii U'. And let's not forget the fact there's genuinely a Nintendo console called the New Nintendo 3DS XL. Not to be confused with the Nintendo 3DS XL, which can still be bought new, but isn't the New Nintendo 3DS XL, which has exclusive games. Nintendo seems to like sticking the word €œnew€ on the front of things and calling it a day. Will the NX actually be called the New Wii U? It honestly wouldn't be surprising. Unless there's been a massive internal marketing cull that we somehow haven't heard of, expect Nintendo's bizarre marketing decisions to continue with the NX.
