8. More New IPs
It goes without saying that Nintendo's biggest advantage is its legendary roster of long-standing IPs, which will always prove alluring to just about any gamer out there. The likes of Metroid, Zelda, Mario and Mario Kart are enough reason in themselves to nab yourself a new console, and are the foundation that's kept the Nintendo brand relevant even through its toughest times. But for what's arguably the
greatest developer of all time, Nintendo has been surprisingly shy about letting their fists fly when it comes to creating and maintaining new IPs. Aside from Pikmin and the recent Splatoon - both of which are excellent games - we really haven't seen Nintendo try to establish new properties on their home consoles in a long time. It's almost as if they're just too much of a gentle giant, sticking to what they know, when they have so much more to offer. You can complain all you like about the Xbox One and PS4 blending into one another and not releasing enough new first-party content, but almost every year they attempt to establish a new one (The Order: 1886 and Sunset Overdrive), and if that fails, they'll just try again. Nintendo may have the greatest bunch of exclusive IPs out there, but it's become over-reliant on them, and should flex those bulging creative muscles to give us more memorable franchises to rank up there with the Marios and Zeldas of the world.
