2. Get With The Times, Do Balance Patching

Online battling in the sixth Pokemon generation stunk. It was awful.

At the VGC level, the game boiled down to under a dozen Pokemon. For casual online battling, it was even fewer.

That’s just not right for a series built around collecting, customizing and battling over 800 different creatures, and it’s something that can be easily remedied if Nintendo gets with the times and takes a proactive approach to tweaking its games. The sixth generation’s meta was woefully homogenous and, just in the few months since Sun and Moon became the go-to competitive Pokemon games, the number of viable Pokemon has dwindled down to about 12.

With Nintendo’s newfound focus on esports and the Pokemon Company doing some strong work with its competitive circuit, this needs to change. Minor balance patches need to become the norm for Pokemon and there’s reason to believe that the infrastructure will be there for the Switch to support this.
