No Man's Sky: 10 Valid Complaints In A Sea Of Hate
6. Survival Is Heavily Prioritised Over Exploration

With over 18 quintillion planets occupying the universe in No Man's Sky, exploration is a seriously exciting prospect. After all, how could going out and discovering whole new worlds with unique landscapes, environments, and lifeforms not be amazing?
The problem comes when this exploration becomes such a difficult grind that finding what's out there turns frustrating. Since you need to stay alive to be able to travel the galaxies (duh!), survival takes a major priority as soon as a planet gets particularly hazardous or unfriendly.
And with the characteristics of these planets being procedurally generated and random, you can easily find yourself in a disappointing spin of moving from one danger zone to the next. Then exploring the landscape and making new discoveries becomes virtually impossible as you're always having to find shelter and save your skin. Survival is regularly prioritised over exploration, but the mechanics of it aren't developed enough to make this an enjoyable alternative to the game's core appeal.
