No Man's Sky: 10 Valid Complaints In A Sea Of Hate
5. Procedural Generation Is Merely Skin Deep
Immense varieties of planets, environments, treasures, and creatures await players in No Man's Sky, but the possibilities are not limitless. This is a result of each new creation being made up of a randomised combination from a finite number of computer-generated characteristics.
There are, of course, more than enough potential creations to keep things looking fairly varied throughout the game, but it quickly becomes clear that the look is really all that changes. There's a significant feel of style over substance in this game, because the changes that appear on each new world don't actually have much impact on the way the experience plays.
Everything that changes is simply on the surface; save for a higher level of toxicity or slightly more aggressive set of sentinels, nothing substantial changes about what you'll do there. You'll arrive, uncover some new items or points of interest, and then leave once the new sights get boring again.
