No Man's Sky: 10 Valid Complaints In A Sea Of Hate

4. It Doesn't Look As Good As We Were Led To Believe It Would

Hello Games

No Man's Sky appeared to be a visual marvel when it was unveiled a couple of years ago. While it's appearance never looked like it was going to be truly groundbreaking, it had a graphical charm that sat somewhere between technical solidity and otherworldly creativity.

This does carry into the finished article, but the execution isn't as impressive as promised. For a start, I never expected that seeing the generation of terrain on a planet's surface as I crossed it would be a feature of the game but it is something that has affected nearly every planet I've visited thus far.

Pop-in and pixel issues are also in abundance, and the game certainly seems to be lacking the level of visual polish that gamers would have expected for something whose development dragged on for so long. It seems that graphical downgrades from pre-release trailers are just a thing that we have to put up with across the board these days.
