Overwatch 2 Wishlist: 10 Things Fans Need To See

How to nail one of the most anticipated sequels in gaming history.

At Blizzcon 2019 - through the haze of Hearthstone bans, employee walkouts, criticism over Chinese control of the company and the reveal of Diablo 4 – Blizzard Entertainment finally announced Overwatch 2.

More an expansion of the original than a legitimate sequel, Overwatch 2 is something that a lot fans – this author included – had been wanting: A lore-heavy PvE game. OW2 will exist in tandem with the original game – basically a cooperative multiplayer story campaign mode where the original will act as the PvP mode.

Let's be honest – even with boycotts, Chinese political conspiracy, and the existence of Diablo 4, Overwatch 2 will sell millions of units.

Unfortunately for Blizzard, years of bad press could catch up to them and if OW2 turns out to be what players see as a bad faith move, it could be pretty disastrous for the Activision-controlled company. No company is immortal, and if it poisons the well too many times, it will find itself lacking.

So, in the hope that Overwatch 2 is as good, if not better, than the original – here's ten things we, and other fans, are looking forward to seeing in the second installment of this great series.

10. Casual Lobby

If you've been in the Custom Game lobby on Overwatch, you've surely seen that half the games going are 'Chill/No Kill' and 'RP' modes. A place to get away from the nuking mechs, exploding tires, and auto lock-on turrets of the regular game modes.

What a missed opportunity, then, it would be to not have a casual lobby in OW2. Can you imagine a map of Gibraltar as the main hub of activity? Give folks the chance to just walk around and hang out, show off their new skins and emotes, link over to the training ground to have fun and show off new stuff.

Maybe they can RP, maybe they can play Mercy jump rope in a safe environment, maybe they can just see how far they can fling each other into the watery abyss over Gibraltar's cliff?

Maybe we just want a place to summon Bob so that we can wave at him without everything getting shot to hell.
