Overwatch: 25 Best Skins You Must Unlock

13. Pharah – Mechaqueen/Raptorion

Overwatch’s Egyptian aerial expert is somewhat lacking in high-quality skins, but thankfully she has Mechaqueen and Raptorion to compensate for this. Clearly inspired by Gundam and other mecha anime, these gorgeous skins give the hero a robotic look, featuring a futuristic armour, all sharp edges and points. The subtler turquoise colour scheme of Raptorion is the perfect choice for those who find Mechaqueen’s to be too similar to Optimus Prime’s, but both skins are excellent.

Elsewhere, Anubis and Jackall pay homage to Pharah’s Egyptian roots, as does with Bedoin, with its glossy blue armour resembling a scarab beetle. Strangely Pharah also has two skins (Raindancer and Thunderbird) which relate to traditional Native American culture. At first this can seem quite jarring, especially at a time when people are more sensitive about cultural appropriation, until you realise that, whilst we know Ana is her mother, we have no idea who Pharah’s father might be. Could this be some way of the developer’s implying that Pharah is half Egyptian, half Native American? This seems to be the only way to justify this otherwise thoughtless decision.

Luckily, Mechaqueen and Raptorion rank amongst the game’s top-tier skins.
