Orisa is one of the game’s most unusual characters, not least because she’s the only quadrupedal hero. You would think this would give designers something new and different to work with, but they don’t seem quite sure what to do with her.

Dynastinae and Megasoma transform Orisa into rhinoceros beetles, but considering these are more associated with Japan and South America rather than Orisa’s native (admittedly fictional) Numbani, it’s hard to see any meaningful connection. OR15 turns the character into her technological predecessor, but by removing her face – especially those delightfully expressive eyes – Orisa loses a lot of what makes the character so charming. The same can be said for Null Sector, which is essentially just an evil, purple version of OR15

Thankfully, Carbon Fibre and Protector are on hand to make Orisa look extremely cool, turning her into some kind of super high-tech, Xbox-looking death machine. Again, there’s not any particular connection to her background or character, but when it makes Orisa look this high tech and imposing there’s little to argue about.
