Considering her immense popularity, you would think the Korean pro-gamer turned mech pilot would have some of the game’s best skins, but, until recently, her Legendary skins have been surprisingly disappointing. Junker reimagines the nineteen-year-old as a scrappy scavenger in Australia’s Junkertown - the home of Junkrat and Roadhog - whilst B.Va, a bee-themed skin, seems to exist purely for the pun potential (though the new buzzing voice line is a nice touch).

Thankfully, D.Va’s event skins have provided her with some nice upgrades, most notably Cruiser. This Anniversary skin transforms D.Va into a 1950’s-inspired character, complete with check shirt, head scarf and hot-rod embellishments for her mech. She even has some 50’s slang voice lines, daddy-o. Meanwhile, Palanquin is a charming homage to her Korean heritage, placing the tomboy character in a traditional hanbok.

It doesn’t make a lot of sense to have a character as futuristic and tech-obsessed as D.Va suddenly go all retro on us, but when it’s as brilliantly conceived as Cruiser, it’s impossible not to embrace the glorious weirdness.
