Reinhardt is easily one of the most vital characters in any team for capturing and holding objectives: his Barrier Field can absorb 2000 damage, which can hold enemies off for a crucial amount of time, even if the trade-off is that he's a vulnerable offensive character. Sure, his Rocket Hammer is extremely powerful, but it's also slow, lumbering and its range is limited, such that you can be easily cut down by a quick-moving foe.

Still, let's not forget his hilarious Charge ability, which is tremendously satisfying when pulled off right, slamming the enemy into a wall for an easy kill. Reinhardt can be invaluable when playing with an organised team, though less so in a more chaotic public match.
