Only the second Frenchman to play for the notoriously picky Athletic Bilbao, the (technically Basque-born) Laporte has featured at the heart of their defence for almost three years now, and could be set to break out in a major way. The 21 year old is comfortable with the ball at his feet, and displays all the organisational and physical traits needed to excel as a top class centre back. He's versatile too, occasionally filling in at left back when needed. Laporte has 14 caps for France's under-21 side, a sure sign of greater things to come on the international stage.
