Pokémon: 10 Craziest Evolution Methods The Games Made You Do
9. Train It In The Rain - Goodra
Different weather settings in Pokémon are both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, you get to fully immerse yourself in the game world with an extra little feature. On the other hand, sometimes the series decides to use these different weather features in undeniably frustrating ways, like only letting you do things at certain real-world times of the day, or - worse yet - locking stuff off unless you manage to get specific weather conditions.
Case in point: Goodra, a powerful dragon-type who appears in Pokémon X and Y, and can only be obtained by evolving a Sliggoo at level 50 in the rain. Doesn't sound too bad, right?
Well, that depends on whether you already know how the Pokémon evolves or not. Because if you don't, you essentially play a fun gambling game every time you level your weird new snail friend up, where it may have been raining, but it may not, leaving it actually evolving down to meteorological chance.
While it's clear that Nintendo did try and soften how harsh this was - by having some routes in X and Y permanently raining, and having later games also let fog count to evolve the slippery dragon - it still seems like an unfair game of pot luck as to whether you'll get a Goodra in the end.
