Pokemon: 10 Things We Want To See In The Future

5. Interactive Battlefields

Though many of us won't admit to being so familiar with the adventures of Ash, we all make comparisons between what we see on the TV and what happens in the games. The anime series undeniably has some incredibly enthralling battles that are the envy of Pokemon players everywhere. Even with the current technology available on the 3DS, it would be very difficult to fully realise the grand scale and immersive nature of the battles from the anime. Once thing that could be employed, though, are the interactive battlefields that Ash & co so often find themselves on. Time after time we have seen Ash triumph after using the surroundings to his advantage, so why not try to include that unpredictability in the games? With the most recent generation certain moves in the game allude to the destruction and modification of the surrounding field, but this could be enhanced further in future games. The description of the move 'Bulldoze' explains that the user destroys the ground around its target, doing damage and subsequently lowering its speed due to the smashed earth. If existing moves from the game could be modified to have similar effects - such as surf flooding the battlefield and boosting the speed/evasiveness of swimming Pokemon - then the immersive battle style from the anime could be replicated in the games.
