Pokémon: Ranking The Starters Of All 6 Generations From Worst To Best
14. Tepig
Before Tepig, pigs hadn't featured particularly heavily as an animal inspiration for many Pokémon designs. It's not hard to see why this is, of course, with Tepig and its evolutions proving that swine don't make for an exciting or appealing creation.
Looks aside, Tepig and its evolutions came at a time where a Fire/Fighting Type starter had become a stale expectation from each new Pokémon game. But while the likes of Blaziken and Infernape had previously had a lot to offer, Tepig's Emboar does not fare so well.
Emboar's stats are weighted more heavily toward longevity in battle, but there aren't many players who opt for a Fire Type tank thanks to their obvious and sweeping weaknesses. Tepig and its family aren't bad battlers, there are just much better alternatives out there.
