Pokémon Sword & Shield: 10 Galarian Forms We Need To See
8. Ambipom
Little bit of a strange one maybe, but then Alola changed Sandshrew into an Ice and Steel type with a fairly limited reason as to why, so it’s certainly possible.
The Angel Of The North might not be the first landmark you think of for Britain, but Anthony Gormley’s iconic statue is a huge symbol of the North’s industry, and it would be great to see it represented in the game. Given that most settings inspired by Britain tend to just be London mashed with Scotland, it would be nice if something else on this fair isle got the spotlight.
That’s where Ambipom comes in. With its long armspan, it could easily be tweaked to pay tribute to the Angel Of The North. Give it a Steel typing to go with Normal, a more coppery, rusted colour and a corrugated design, and you’re in business.
There’s other Pokémon with arms who could fit, but Ambipom just seems most suited. To really dig into it, being a monkey gives him another connection to the North East with Hartlepool, whose residents are nicknamed the monkey hangers after once executing a chimp for being a French spy.
