Pokémon Sword & Shield: 10 Galarian Forms We Need To See

Pokémon fans have had a bit of an issue with Absol’s typing for a long time, and Galar offers a sensible way to fix it. Design wise, it suits Dark, gets some solid Same Type Attack Bonus moves and Dark itself is a viable type on the right team. Lore wise though, it makes no sense.

Yes, PokéDex entries are famously bonkers. For example, if Magcargo’s was true, Earth’s atmosphere would be set ablaze and everyone would die a slow and fiery death. Tyranitar eats mountains for breakfast, despite only being 6 and a half feet tall. They’re not exactly reliable.

Absol’s though is more sensible, describing it as an exotic and rare creature, whom scientists thought was Dark type because of its devilish design. They expected an evil and viscous beast, but it turned out be friendly and loyal... yet it kept Dark typing? It just doesn’t make sense.

A switch to Fairy or Pyschic (or even Fairy Psychic) could be in the offing. This could tie in to Britain’s rich history of myths, legends and fairytales while allowing Absol to keep parts of its sleek and magical design.
