Pokémon Sun & Moon: 10 Forgotten Features That Must Return
7. Partner Pokémon Joining You In The Overworld
Introduced in the Pikachu-centric Pokémon Yellow and then brought back triumphantly in Pokémon Heart Gold & Soul Silver, having a partner Pokémon follow you around in the game's overworld is a charming - if unnecessary - addition to the game. But while issues with the sizes and styles of some monsters make it not entirely convincing at all times, it's definitely a feature that should return in some form.
If, for example, players were just able to be accompanied by their chosen starter or any of its evolutions through the game, then the appeal of the journey would certainly be recaptured. One of the most memorable things about the anime series is the bond between Ash and his very first Pokémon, Pikachu, and it would be great to encapsulate that friendship for the trainers in the new game.
The partner Pokémon also have practical uses as well; finding hidden items was always a bonus and being able to check the happiness of your companion so easily was definitely a better option than in so many other Pokémon games.
