PS4 Pro: Everything We Know So Far
2. More Features And More Power Than The Standard PS4
Spec-wise, the PS4 Pro comes packing a couple of notable upgrades over the standard (now slim) PS4. In terms of inputs and appearance, the Pro weighs 3.3kg to the Slim's 2.1kg and comes with an optical input and three USB 3.1 ports - whereas the Slim only has two.
Under the hood, things aren't radically different but they're different nonetheless. The console's RAM is still that same 8GB of GDDR5 found in every single PS4, but the GPU has been given a boost from an AMD Radeon with 1.84 TFLOPS to an AMD Radeon with 4.2 TFLOPS. Disappointingly, the CPU hasn't been changed since 2013, but that would require a much higher price point than the £349 the Pro is currently at.
Elsewhere, the Pro is capable of 4K streaming from services like Netflix - shows like Marvel's Luke Cage and season two of Narcos will support this resolution. The console's wi-fi has also been given a bit more punch, meaning that your streams and shareplay sessions should be rendered in a higher quality with fewer hiccups.
Plus, the standard PS4 Pro comes packing a monster 1TB hard drive. You'll probably still run out of space eventually, but at least you've got more wiggle room now!
